This medal has been established by the Division on Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology & Volcanology in recognition of the scientific achievements of Robert Wilhelm Bunsen. It will be awarded for distinguished research in Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology & Volcanology.
