Bob Yunsheng Tian is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Professor Sabine Stanley at University of Toronto, Canada. As an undergraduate, he studied physics and astrophysics in University of Toronto, and focused his undergraduate research on numerical modelling of celestial mechanics and mantle convection. Following his bachelors degree, he worked as a researcher for the Centre for Global Change Science on atmospheric dynamics and climate modelling; and then as an intern at the Lunar and Planetary Science Institute and NASA Johnson Space Center. Currently, his research focus is on the numerical studies of the interior structure and dynamics of solar system bodies and exoplanets, both with 1D interior structure/evolution calculations and fully 3D hydro/magnetohydrodynamic simulations of planetary interiors. The poster presented at EGU pertains to a 3D lunar dynamo model where the core flow is driven by forced precession of the Moon. The magnetic field generated by this mechanism was found to be a viable explanation for the strength of the lunar dynamo between 4.2 and 3.5Ga as suggested by the lunar paleomagnetic record.
