Tiago Abreu is a recent PhD postgraduate student in Civil Engineering in the specialty of Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment obtained at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. At this moment, he works as adjunct professor in the Civil Engineering Department of the Polytechnic of Porto (IPP) – School of Technology (ISEP), Portugal. He is also full member of the Associated Laboratory CESAM (Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies) and his research focuses on coastal sediment dynamics. The presentation at the EGU 2014 explored the ability of practical sediment transport models, recognized to capture the interaction between non-linear waves and undertow currents, to predict sandbar migrations.
