The 2016 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to Andrea Licciardi for the poster/PICO entitled:

Crustal anisotropy along the North Anatolian Fault Zone from receiver functions (Licciardi, A.; Eken, T.; Taymaz, T.; Piana, N.; Agostinetti, N. P.; Yolsal-Çevikbilen, S.; Tilmann, F.)

Andrea Licciardi is a PhD student at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies in Dublin, under the supervision of Dr. Nicola Piana Agostinetti. He uses the receiver function method to study the structure of the continental crust in different tectonic settings, with a major focus on seismic anisotropy.
In the awarded poster it is shown that seismic anisotropy in the upper crust plays a major role around the North Anatolian Fault Zone. Intensity of anisotropy increases approaching the main faults in the area and directions of the symmetry axis tends to align with the major geological structures
