ISSUE 10, OCTOBER 2015 EGU NEWSLETTER Monthly information service for members of the European Geosciences Union Read this email in HTML format at https://www.egu.eu/newsletter/egu/10/email/ ============================================================ HIGHLIGHTS This week we announced the recipients of the 2016 EGU Awards & Medals (https://egu.eu/5JEHPW): outstanding geoscientists honoured for their important contributions to the Earth, planetary and space sciences. In addition, the EGU has introduced a new logo (https://egu.eu/1NB3K9) this month. The new logo works in both large and small sizes, is easy to view even on small-screen devices such as tablets and smartphones, and the letters ‘EGU’ are larger and more easily discernible than in the old logo. We have also changed our definition of Early Career Scientist (https://egu.eu/148WA1), which is now inclusive of those who start their research career later on in life. Last but not the least, the EGU 2016 General Assembly call for papers is opening in the next few days (https://egu.eu/8YB82D): for the opportunity to present and discuss your work at Europe’s largest geosciences conference, make sure to submit your abstract by 13 January 2016, 13:00 CET, or by 1 December 2015 if you would like to apply for financial support to attend the meeting. ------------------------------------------------------------ IN THIS ISSUE EGU News General Assembly Journal Watch EGU Blogs ------------------------------------------------------------ EGU NEWS * Vote for the next EGU President/Vice-President and General Secretary in November (https://www.egu.eu/elections/) * EGU announces 2016 awards and medals (https://egu.eu/5JEHPW) * [ECS] EGU Early Career Scientist definition changed (https://egu.eu/148WA1) * Introducing the new EGU logo (https://egu.eu/1NB3K9) * New policy section on the EGU website (https://egu.eu/59HKEP) * From 1 November to 31 December, you can apply for EGU support to organise a meeting in the geosciences (https://egu.eu/9YEID6) * Educators: apply now to take part in the 2016 GIFT workshop!
