Fabrizio Pepe

for his publication " Rifted margin formation in the South Tyrrhenian Sea: a high-resolution seismic profile across the North Sicily passive continental margin" of the Section on Solid Earth Geophysics

.

Fabrizio Pepe was born on July 18, 1965 in Petralia Sottana (PA) and Italy, studied Geology and Geophysics at the University of Palermo (Italy) where he graduated curn laude in 1993. He then successfully completed his Ph.D. in Sedimentary Geology at the Napoli University in 1999 with a Thesis on Neogene to Recent stratigraphic, structural and thermo-mechanical evolution of the northern Sicily passive continental margin. During this time he developed and constructed a new acquisition and processing high-resolution multichannel seismic tool which was used from 1994 in the seismic exploration campaigns performed in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The main results of his work on the N Sicily continental margins are being published in leading international Journals. During his PhD he had very profitable ivorking visits in Amsterdam where he got involved in modelling studies.

His current research interests include quantitative analyses of the kinematic of rifting processes in the continental margins of North Sicily and peninsular Italy. Project in progress is the quantitative reconstruction of the Neogene to Recent crustal evolution of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea. He is furthermore involved in the analysis of regional seismic transepts from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Sicilian foredeep.
