in recognition of his generous services as EGS Editor of the journal Geophysical Journal International

Professor Roberto Sabadini graduated from the University of Bologna in 1977 and he is now Full Professor of Physics of the Earth at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Milano. Author of about 100 scientific papers, he served as Secretary for Tectonophysics in the EGS and IASPEI. In 1997 he has been elected EGS President for Solid Earth Geophysics.

After serving as Associate Editor from 1988-1992, Professor Sabadini became EGS Editor-in-Chief of the Geophysical Journal International, jointly run with the Royal Astronomical Society and the Deutsche Geophysikalische Gesellschaft. It is for his stimulating, and strong efforts and his exceptional services as EGS Editor for the growth and for the scientific reputation of the journal that the Society is honoured to present the Badge Award 1998 to Professor Sabadini.
