Job description

Please see below details for a professor position in Lyon. Deadline for application is April 11th 2019.

TEACHING :
The professor will teach both undergraduate and graduate classes in Earth and Planetary sciences at University Claude Bernard Lyon1. This includes the introductory geology course, a selection of undergraduate classes in the geology curriculum, and the Earth and Life sciences curriculum for future high-school teachers. The professor is also expected to be active in our master program either in the Paleontology, sedimentology and paleoenvironments curriculum or in the Physics and chemistry of the Earth and Planets one, depending on his/her research focus. The position also includes responsibilities in the management of the teaching activities and in the development of partnerships with socio-professional organizations. The professor will contribute to our commitment to develop digital educational tools that help ensure the success of our undergraduate students.

RESEARCH :
The Laboratoire de Géologie de Lyon – Terre, Planètes, Environnement (lgltpe.ens-lyon.fr) has a great reputation for research activities in different disciplines of Earth and planetary Sciences, in France and abroad. The LGL-TPE is seeking a professor who develops an outstanding research project and has a solid international network. The fields of interest include but are not limited to geodynamics of the endogenic and exogenic envelops of the Earth, mineralogy and petrology at large, … The professor is expected to develop challenging initiatives at the forefront of his/her own discipline, develop collaborations in Lyon that strengthen the position of the LGL-TPE. He/she is also expected to contribute to the management of the research activities at LGL-TPE.
