Job description

The successful applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching.

Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).

Successful candidates should have excellent international research experiences in Terrestrial Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics. We are looking for someone with extensive experience in acquiring external funding and managing externally funded research projects. Additionally, she or he is expected to have comprehensive experience in the development and implementation of Earth Sciences courses and the ability to teach courses in German and English. Evidence of interdisciplinary cooperation is also required.

Apart from the official duties in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:

She or he will engage in research and teaching on structures and processes on the surface of the earth and human-environment interactions with special consideration of data science and modelling. We expect the new professor to acquire and implementing externally funded interdisciplinary research projects. Furthermore, she or he will actively participate in the research network for planetary systems and remote sensing and in establishing coordinated research projects. Additionally, the cooperation of the appointee within the institute, the Department of Earth Sciences, the different departments of the FU Berlin and the Berlin-Brandenburg Universities and major research centres is of great importance for the position. The appointee is also expected to address gender and diversity issues relevant to the field.
