ISSUE 29, MAY 2017 EGU NEWSLETTER Monthly information service for members of the European Geosciences Union Read this email in HTML format at https://www.egu.eu/newsletter/egu/29/email/ ============================================================ HIGHLIGHTS This month, the EGU announced the first AOGS–EGU joint conference, on New Dimensions for Natural Hazards in Asia (https://egu.eu/1BJ7XY). The meeting is taking place from 4 to 8 February 2018 in the Philippines and the deadline for abstract submission is 31 August. Another important deadline to keep in mind is 15 June: you have until then to nominate deserving scientists for all EGU 2018 medals and awards (https://egu.eu/7S8RYF). We encourage the EGU membership to consider gender, geographical and cultural balance when nominating outstanding Earth, planetary and space scientists at various career stages. Finally, we invite you to look back to the EGU 2017 General Assembly by watching the highlights of the conference on video (https://egu.eu/90BFLU) or some of the web streamed sessions (https://egu.eu/79YKVL), such as medal lectures and great debates. If you haven’t yet, please help us make the 2018 meeting even better by submitting your feedback (https://egu.eu/65PEVW) by the end of today (31 May). ------------------------------------------------------------ IN THIS ISSUE General Assembly EGU News Journal Watch EGU Blogs ------------------------------------------------------------ EGU NEWS * Nominate candidates for EGU awards and medals by 15 June (https://egu.eu/7S8RYF) * First AOGS–EGU Joint Conference: New Dimensions for Natural Hazards in Asia (https://egu.eu/1BJ7XY) * Press release: Flat Antarctica – Land height could help explain why Antarctica is warming slower than the Arctic (https://egu.eu/867QMP) * EGU journals: celebrations and growth (https://egu.eu/2EWGD2) More EGU news items are available on the EGU website at https://www.egu.eu/news/all/. ------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL ASSEMBLY * Video: the highlights of the EGU 2017 General Assembly (https://egu.eu/90BFLU) * Video: watch the sessions web streamed at the EGU 2017 General Assembly (https://egu.eu/79YKVL) * Have comments on how we can improve the General Assembly?
