ISSUE 4, APRIL 2015 EGU NEWSLETTER Monthly information service for members of the European Geosciences Union Read this email in HTML format at https://www.egu.eu/newsletter/egu/4/email/ ============================================================ HIGHLIGHTS April was a very busy but rewarding month at the EGU. From 12 to 17 April in Vienna, we celebrated A Voyage through Scales at the 2015 EGU General Assembly, a meeting which has received extremely positive feedback and excellent media coverage. Over 11,800 Earth, planetary and space scientists from around the world presented and discussed geoscientific research in close to 600 sessions. Find out more about the Assembly, and some of the research presented at the conference, by following the links below. ------------------------------------------------------------ IN THIS ISSUE General Assembly EGU News Journal Watch EGU Blogs Meetings Jobs ------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL ASSEMBLY * EGU 2015 General Assembly numbers and thank you to all participants (https://egu.eu/5L6YSD) * A Voyage through Scales – The theme of the EGU 2015 (https://egu.eu/4VGL8B) : find out more about the theme exhibitions at the conference and download a free PDF photo book about scales in the geosciences * If you were unable to make it to Vienna, you can watch some of the EGU 2015 (https://egu.eu/24T0BQ) Union sessions, great debates and press conferences online * Find out who the winners of this year’s Communicate Your Science Video Competition (https://egu.eu/127KYJ) and EGU Imaggeo Photo Contest (https://egu.eu/2FZ4UT) are ------------------------------------------------------------ EGU NEWS * Launching the EGU Galileo Conference programme (https://egu.eu/4UNJ98) * Introducing the new EGU early-career-scientist representatives at Union level (https://egu.eu/1MN8O2) * A community journal grown up: celebrating 10 years of Climate of the Past (https://egu.eu/4FCJ2E) * Job opportunity at the EGU Executive Office: Science Policy Fellow (https://egu.eu/693FA0) (deadline 3 May) * Press Release: Travelling pollution – East Asian human activities affect air quality in remote tropical forests (https://egu.eu/0WNLHS) More EGU news items are available on the EGU website at https://www.egu.eu/news/all/. ------------------------------------------------------------ JOURNAL WATCH Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (HESS) * Storm type effects on super Clausius–Clapeyron scaling of intense rainstorm properties with air temperature (https://egu.eu/5SAWT1) Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences (NHESS) * Field survey report and satellite image interpretation of the 2013 Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines (https://egu.eu/1ZSNXL) The Cryosphere (TC) * On producing sea ice deformation data sets from SAR-derived sea ice motion (https://egu.eu/6IBM20) Other papers highlighted by the editors of EGU's open access journals are available online at https://www.egu.eu/news/journal-watch/. ------------------------------------------------------------ EGU BLOGS GeoLog, the official EGU blog * Research from EGU 2015: Scientists share new observations from comet-chasing Rosetta Mission (https://egu.eu/5YZFWA) * Research from EGU 2015: Drinkable rocks!
