ISSUE 60, DECEMBER 2019 EGU NEWSLETTER Monthly information service for members of the European Geosciences Union View this email in HTML format at https://www.egu.eu/newsletter/egu/60/email/) ------------------------------------------------------------ HIGHLIGHTS This month the EGU announced the results of the autumn 2019 elections (https://egu.eu/465TE7/), which included selecting the Union’s next President, General Secretary and Division Presidents. We also opened two calls for geoscience teachers: one due 31 January 2020 to attend a GIFT workshop in March (https://egu.eu/7KL2EZ/) that will be held in conjunction with the 36th International Geological Congress in Delhi, India, and a second for university-level geoscience teachers to attend a teaching focus group meeting (https://egu.eu/05B5PJ/) associated with the 2020 General Assembly. The deadline for this opportunity is 14 February 2020. Please remember that the deadline for abstracts for the General Assembly (https://egu.eu/47M0R5/) is 15 January 2020 at 13:00 CET. Only EGU members are eligible to submit an abstract(https://egu.eu/423J1W/) to the General Assembly. Members also enjoy substantially reduced meeting registration rates, among other benefits, so please renew now (https://egu.eu/1YI38J/). Applications are now open for the EGU General Assembly Mentoring Programme (https://egu.eu/9B57MA/) (deadline: 31 January 2020). ------------------------------------------------------------ IN THIS ISSUE EGU News General Assembly Journal Watch EGU Blogs ------------------------------------------------------------ EGU NEWS * EGU announces the results of the Union’s latest election (https://egu.eu/465TE7/) * Educators and teachers: apply to attend a focus group meeting in Vienna to provide feedback on how EGU can best support university-level geoscience teaching(https://egu.eu/05B5PJ/) (deadline: 14 February 2020) * EGU invites geoscience teachers to apply for funding to attend a ‘Mountains, water and the environment’ GIFT workshop in India (https://egu.eu/7KL2EZ/) (deadline: 31 January 2020) * Fukushima: lessons learnt from an extraordinary case of soil decontamination (https://egu.eu/9TVA0K/) - press release * Press release: One-third of recent global methane increase comes from tropical Africa (https://egu.eu/34WUH9/) More EGU news items are available on the EGU website at (https://www.egu.eu/news/all/). ------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL ASSEMBLY * Submit your abstract and register for the EGU General Assembly 2020.
