This month we’re sharing updates on the EGU26 presentation update, EGU funding opportunities, EGU awards nomination and highlights from upcoming international water events. Highlights and Upcoming Deadlines

UPLOAD EGU PRESENTATION BY 2 MAY

The EGU General Assembly facilitates the presentation of scientific results in the form of poster presentations, oral presentations, and PICOs. The EGU stresses that all scientific presentations at its General Assembly have equal importance, independent of format. There is no distinction regarding the standing, quality, or prestige of oral, poster, or PICO presentations.

Awards & medals nominations for the year 2027 are currently open. The deadline for submissions is 15 June 2026. Please read the guidelines carefully before submitting a nomination.

APPLY FOR FUNDING A TRAINING SCHOOL OR CONFERENCE

EGU provide a range of funded options to engage with these more specialised events, paying special attention to the needs of early career researchers, and aim to help organisers achieve financial stability, visibility, and/or access to a larger target community with our support. All Topical Events funding for 2027 is now open for application by 15 May 2026.

IAHS SUMMER SCHOOL, APPLY BEFORE 1ST MAY

Summer school to learn methods of estimating runoff characteristics in the absence of local data. Runoff predictions in an ungaguged drainage basin. This is a chance for Masters and PhD students researching catchment hydrology and practising hydrologists who are challenged by making predictions in the absence of runoff data.

EGU LEONARDO CONFERENCE 2026 / INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

Registration is open for the 10th International Symposium on Water Resources Management -IWRM / 11th EGU Leonardo Symposium which will address the growing need for resilient and inclusive water resource management in the face of accelerating global change. Held in Canberra, Australia from 9 - 13 September 2026.

Scientists are often imagined through a narrow and gendered stereotype. This matters because society’s image of scientist shape who is seen, remembered and valued as a role model.
