CALL FOR NEW SCIENCE OFFICERS FOR THE NATURAL HAZARDS DIVISION

Dear NH friends and colleagues,
we are seeking several new Science Officers for our Natural Hazards Division to complement our Natural Hazards Division Team. Please note that the NH division president, Deputy president and Science officers are all working as volunteers for the community (thus, there is no financial incentive associated with these positions)

Open positions of Science Officers:

  • NH2 Volcanic Hazards
  • NH3 Landslide and Snow Avalanche Hazards
  • NH5 Sea & Ocean Hazards
  • NH8 Environmental, Biological & Natech Hazards
  • NH9 Natural Hazards & Society
  • NH11 Climate Hazards

For all positions the term is fixed for a two-year-period with a possible extension for another two-year-period. Thus, the normal duration of a term is four years, from General Assembly to General Assembly.

Anticipating your questions, in the end of this email we summarize the main responsibilities of a Science Officer as it is up to now. Of course, we are happy if you bring in your creativity and new ideas.

Candidates should send a short motivation letter, incl. a short vision of the sub-division and 1 page CV to nh@egu.eu.
The deadline for applications is 17 December 2025.

The selection process will be based on the evaluation of the experience with EGU activities, and activities in other international scientific associations.
The positions are open for all career-stages and we specifically welcome applications from early-career scientists.

Please, spread this information among your colleagues and send applications to nh@egu.eu

Best regards,
Heidi Kreibich
EGU NH President
