These traineeships are for a period of up to 5 months and provide candidates with a stipend. Working as a JRC trainee can give you valuable insights into the science-policy interface and a better understanding about how to navigate and connect with European institutions. You can read about EGU member [Aaron Mckinnon’s experience as a JRC Trainee here](https://blogs.egu.eu/geolog/2019/09/27/one-americans-way-into-the-european-commission/) and find out more about the [currently open positions offered here.](https://recruitment.jrc.ec.europa.eu/?type=TR) #### Internship with the European Parliament Intergroup Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Development The [European Parliament Intergroup Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Development](https://ebcd.org/intergroup/) is seeking an intern to work between September and November 2021. The Intergroup represents a forum of discussion for Members of the European Parliament to learn, debate, and create policies geared towards sustainable development. Taking place online on 23-24 June 2021, it will allow virtual participation from anywhere in the world. You can find more information and [register for the conference here.](https://ec.europa.eu/research-and-innovation/en/events/upcoming-events/research-innovation-days) #### The Future of Science Communication Conference Only effective and evidence-based science communication can help to tackle the challenges in the relationship between science-public-media-politics in the coming years on the European level. The Future of Science Communication Conference, held online from 24-25 June 2021, aims to facilitate stronger networking and outline best practices for science communication including how it can be transferred into practice. You can find more information and [register for the conference here.](https://allea.org/future-of-science-communication/) #### Science Policy events calendar The EGU’s Science Policy events calendar is regularly updated with geoscience-relevant policy events for researchers of all career stages. You can see upcoming events on the [EGU’s external policy events calendar.](https://www.egu.eu/policy/events/) THE JOURNAL OF SCIENCE POLICY & GOVERNANCE ------------------------------------------ The Journal of Science Policy & Governance is an open-access peer-reviewed publication that serves as a visible platform for innovative solutions that address a wide range of problems at the intersection of science, technology, public policy, and governance. Their articles, podcast, and frequent webinars of policy writing may be of interest to EGU members interested in getting more at the interface of science and policy. You can read more about this journal and their initiatives [here.](https://www.sciencepolicyjournal.org/) HAVE YOUR SAY: GLOBAL NETWORK FOR GEOSCIENCE AND SOCIETY -------------------------------------------------------- The newly formed Global Network for Geoscience and Society (GNGS) will address aspects of science-policy while also highlighting non-policy-related opportunities for civic-minded geoscientists to address societal challenges related to natural resource exploitation, environmental contamination, natural hazards, and climate change. GNGS is currently asking for feedback on the design of this new platform that will be guided by input from end-users.
