Helvetic Nappes of Switzerland, by Kurt Stuewe. Find geoscience images (and upload yours!) at

This month we are sad to report that the former EGU Executive Secretary, Arne Richter, passed away. He was a major contributor to the development of the EGU, and a strong supporter of open access publishing, as well as of researchers in the earlier stages of their careers. On a more uplifting note, in September we are launching the call for proposal for a new conference programme: the Galileo Conferences. Finally, don’t forget you can still submit session ideas for the EGU 2016 General Assembly until 18 September, and propose a candidate for the next EGU President/Vice-President and General Secretary until 15 September.
