HIGHLIGHTS
In place of our annual physical General Assembly in Vienna, the EGU will be hosting EGU2020: Sharing Geoscience Online (#shareEGU20) from 4–8 May. This event will offer all geoscientists opportunities to share their research and stimulate scientific discourse during these unprecedented times.
Following an Herculean effort by our partner Copernicus.org, EGU’s conference organiser, and the EGU Programme Committee members, the face-to-face General Assembly schedule has been revised. A new programme of the online activities that will be available during the first week of May is now posted on the meeting website, along with extensive guidelines so that authors and conveners know how to prepare and what to expect during this unusually large pilot project.
The authors of the more than 18,000 abstracts are now invited to upload presentation materials of their choice, such as an animation, a graph or a few slides, to expand on their published abstracts. To make this process 'as easy as pie’, the members of the EGU Communications Team, who are fans of the Great British Bake-Off show, have created a very short video to show you how to upload your materials in a few easily digestible steps. On your mark, get set, BAKE!
Yesterday EGU President Alberto Montanari and EGU Programme Committee Chair Susanne Buiter hosted a webinar to describe how to get involved in EGU2020: Sharing Geoscience Online and what the #shareEGU20 agenda will include. They also provided answers to numerous questions about what to expect. The webinar is available for viewingon EGU’s YouTube channel. Montanari also blogged about what geoscientists can do to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
More EGU2020 information is available on the meeting website.
