The 2008 Young Scientist Outstanding Poster Paper (YSOPP) Award is awarded to Jakob Heyman for the poster/PICO entitled:

Reconstructing former glacial extent of the NE Tibetan Plateau – combining remote sensing and field data of glacial geology (Heyman, J.; Stroeven, A.P.; Hättestrand, C.; Alexanderson, H.; Yingkui, L.; Harbor, J.; Caee, M.W.; Liping, Z.; Veres, D.)

Jakob is a PhD student at the Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology, Stockholm University. His PhD project is focused on the paleoglaciology of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau, involving remote sensing, field studies and numerical dating techniques. The EGU 2008 poster presents a glacial geological record for the northeastern Tibetan plateau based on two principal methods: remote sensing and field studies. Both methods yield data indicating restricted glaciations with valley glaciers and separate icefields/ice caps and leaving no support to ice sheet glaciation. The remote sensing technique give a landform record of extensive spatial coverage, and this is complemented by field studies adding detailed point data of glacial deposits.
