Félix Margirier is currently in his third and final-year as a PhD student in Sorbonne Universités (UPMC, Univ Paris06)-CNRS-IRD-MNHN, Laboratoire LOCEAN in Paris, France.
His research is on the Mediterranean region and more specifically on the Northwestern Mediterranean where deep convection occurs.
He focuses on tracking the impact of the presence and absence of the intermittent deep convection on the region. Having observed an important invasion of heat and salt at intermediate levels in the Northwestern Mediterranean basin since 2013, this PICO presentation focuses on the state change of the intermediate and deep waters and succesfully predicted how, after 4 winters without deep convection, the next deep waters would be found to be warmer and saltier than ever.
