The EGU community is incredibly diverse, and nowhere can this be seen more clearly than in the fields present in the Geoscience and Society (GS) Division. Representing all researchers engaged in examining the connections between Earth, planetary and space sciences, and societal questions and challenges; Geoscience and Society aims to promote effective connections between the geoscientific world and social fields such as politics, science communication, media and journalism, psychology, social science, education, economics, and ethics. Providing a valuable collective space for researchers addressing some of the biggest challenges of humanity’s existence, including climate change communication, mis- and disinformation, societal impacts of research, ethical scientific practice, fostering diversity and inclusion in science, and more. Geoscience and Society provides a truly interdisciplinary forum to elevate social geoscientific research activities and build a resilient research community.

Current issue of the EGU newsletter

In our September issue, we ask whether our accelerating technological advancement is still serving science (and scientists), and hear from the incoming Early Career Scientist rep for the Geosciences Instrumentation and Data Systems (GI) Division Luigi Bianco. Don't miss your chance to register for one of our autumn workshops the Outreach Committee is seeking a consultant to help develop a mentoring programme.

All this and much more, in this month's Loupe!
