The European Geosciences Union (EGU), is a non-profit association registered with the Tribunal d'Instance de Strasbourg (Volume N°41, Folio N° 115) and is subject to the rules of the local Civil Code, validated by the French Civil Legislation Law of 1 June 1924. Its registered office is that of the Ecole et Observatoire de Physique du Globe, 5 rue René Descartes, 67084 Strasbourg Cedex, France.
Overall management and control of the Union rest in the hands of the elected Council, consisting of the Union president, the vice-president, the general secretary, the treasurer, and the presidents of each division.
The Union offices, under the direction of an executive secretary, are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Union, under the general guidance of the Council. The EGU Finance Office is in Strasbourg, France, and the EGU Executive Office is located in Munich, Germany.
