Early Career Scientists (ECS)
Welcome to the Atmospheric Sciences (AS) Early Career Scientists (ECS) community! We are a team of early career researchers dedicated to supporting, connecting, and representing ECS within the EGU Atmospheric Sciences Division.
Our goal is to foster an inclusive and engaging community by creating opportunities for networking, collaboration, professional development, and science communication. Throughout the year and during the EGU General Assembly, we organize activities that help ECS connect with peers and senior scientists, share their research, and become more involved in the Atmospheric Sciences Division.

Who we are
ECS Representative
Mozhgan Amiramjadi
Mozhgan Amiramjadi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. Her research focuses on applying artificial intelligence to climate and environmental science. She completed her PhD at the University of Tehran on the parameterization of atmospheric gravity waves and was a visiting researcher at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD) at École Polytechnique in Paris. Before joining KIT, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) in Kühlungsborn, Germany. She has served as the EGU Atmospheric Sciences (AS) Early Career Scientist Representative since 2026.

Juliana Jaen
Juliana Jaen is a Research Associate at the University of Bath, UK, where she has been working since 2024 on atmospheric gravity waves and their impact on the dynamics of the middle atmosphere. She obtained her PhD at the Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) and the University of Rostock, Germany, focusing on wind dynamics in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere. She previously studied Astronomy at the National University of La Plata, Argentina, where she specialised in ionospheric physics. Since 2026, she has served as the co-representative of the Early Career Scientist network for the Atmospheric Sciences Division of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).
Poornima Suthar
Poornima Suthar is a final-year undergraduate student studying environmental engineering at L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad, India, affiliated with Gujarat Technological University. She has a growing interest in atmospheric sciences, particularly in urban climatology & heat dynamics, air pollution, compound heat–pollution extremes, and their impacts on public health. She works with the application of satellite remote sensing, atmospheric datasets, geospatial analysis, and machine learning to better understand how urban atmospheres warm, pollute, and change over time, and how these processes influence environmental quality, public health, and relevant policy implications.

Roxana S. Cremer
Dr. Roxana S. Cremer is an atmospheric scientist and science communicator who took over chief editor of the AS blog in 2025. She received her PhD at the Department of Environmental Science at Stockholm University, where her doctoral research focused on Black Carbon aerosol and its impacts on the Arctic environment. Now, she is based in Leipzig at Leibniz Institute of Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) in the modelling department working on high resolution modelling of hurricane microphysics and global aerosol modelling as part of the CleanCloud project.

Nadja Omanovic
Nadja Omanovic is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany, and has been part of the Blog Editor team since 2025. She earned her PhD from the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, where she focused on improving cloud processes in large-eddy simulations. Her current research combines high-resolution modeling and statistical physics to study Arctic mixed-phase clouds.
