The 2025 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Carlos Castillo-Rivera for the poster/PICO entitled:

Evaluation of Interhemispheric Asymmetry using Total Electron Content at High Latitudes During Geomagnetic Storms (Castillo-Rivera, C.; Stepanova, M.; Pinto, V.; Bravo, M.)

Carlos Castillo-Rivera obtained his degree in Geophysics from the University of Concepción and recently completed his MSc in Physics at the University of Santiago of Chile. His work focuses on studying interhemispheric differences in the ionosphere using magnetically conjugate points between Antarctica and North America.

The poster presented analyzes disturbances during 25 geomagnetic storms of different intensities and examines the velocities of these disturbances propagating from the pole toward the equator at high latitudes, finding faster velocities in the Northern Hemisphere. It also studies the timing of the maximum disturbance at the most polar locations, showing a preferred time in both hemispheres for the occurrence of the maximum value. Finally, a possible relationship between the velocities and the Dst index was suggested.
