Committees
The administrative activities of the Union are carried out through committees, established by the Council as necessary. EGU has presently nine committees that report to the Council.
Awards Committee
- Co-ordinates EGU medal committees and proposes medal recipients to the Council
- Chair: Thomas Blunier (awards-medals@egu.eu)

Education Committee
- Co-ordinates the EGU activities related to secondary and tertiary education
- Chair: Jean-Luc Berenguer (education@egu.eu)
- Members: Anna Anglisano Roca, Annegret Schwarz, Carlo Laj, Francesca Cifelli, Francesca Funiciello (Deputy Chair), Friedrich Barnikel, Gina Pereira Correia, Giuliana Panieri, Hélder Pereira, Konstantinos Kourtidis, Phil Smith (Secretary), Stavros Stathopoulos, Stephen Macko, Teresita Gravina, the Head of Media, Communications and Outreach, the Outreach and Topical Events Committee chairs as ex-officio members, and the EGU Executive Board
Finance Committee
- Co-ordinates EGU finances and proposes budget to the Council

Nominations Committee
- Oversees the various nomination processes related to EGU elections
- Consists of the president and vice-president
Outreach Committee
- Co-ordinates outreach activities as stipulated by By-laws 1.5 and 1.6

- Members: Camilla Imarisio, Eleanor Armstrong, Emmanuel Salmon, Kerstin Treydte, Roberta Bellini, Rosalie Tostevin (Secretary), Solmaz Mohadjer (Deputy Chair), the Head of Media, Communications and Outreach, the Media and Communications Officer, the Policy Manager, the Union-level ECS representative, the Topical Events and Education Committee chairs as ex-officio members, and the EGU Executive Board
Programme Committee
- Co-ordinates the scientific programme of the annual General Assembly including travel support
- Co-Chairs: Athanasios Nenes and Maria-Helena Ramos (programme-committee@egu.eu)
- Members: one member representing each Programme Group as appointed by the Council, Programme Committee officers, the EGU Executive Board, and the meeting organisers – see also the Programme Committee page of the General Assembly
Publications Committee
- Co-ordinates the EGU journals and other publications
- Chair: Barbara Ervens (publications@egu.eu)
- Members: Theresa Blume (Deputy Chair), Ulrich Pöschl (EGUsphere Co-ordinator), all the executive editors of each EGU journal, the EGU Executive Board (ex-officio) and the publisher (ex-officio)
Topical Events Committee
- Co-ordinates activities related to topical meetings, conference series, workshops and training schools
- Chair: Claudio Rosenberg (topical-events@egu.eu)
- Members: Alberto Viglione, Ira Didenkulova, Kristen Cook, the Events Co-ordinator, the Outreach and Education Committee chairs as ex-officio members, and the EGU Executive Board
Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee
- Co-ordinates EGU’s equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives
