Devika M V is a final-year PhD candidate at the Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala, India, under the supervision of Dr. Ajil Kottayil. Her research focuses on the variability of upper tropospheric humidity (UTH) with an emphasis on satellite observations and their implications for tropical climate processes.
The award-winning EGU25 poster presentation is part of her PhD thesis, demonstrating the influence of UTH on the longwave cloud radiative forcing (LWCRF) in the tropics. In this study, she quantified the respective impacts of various types of clouds, total column water vapour, and UTH on LWCRF variability, showing that LWCRF over the tropics is primarily influenced by UTH derived from microwave observations.
