The 2025 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Jonah McLeod for the poster/PICO entitled:

Planform as a Dominant Control on Sediment Intermittency: Global Analysis of River Transport Patterns (McLeod, J. S.; Ganti, V.; Whittaker, A. C.; Hampson, G. J.; Bell, R. E.; Slater, L. J.; Liu, Y.; Rees, H.)

Jonah McLeod is a PhD candidate at Imperial College London, UK. In his research, he is working towards understanding the sensitivity of landscapes to climate change, specifically through the lens of rivers. Using techniques in palaeohydrology and fluvial geomorphology, Jonah's research investigates both modern and ancient fluvial systems with a view to anticipating the response of Earth's surface to our changing climate.

In his conference contribution, Jonah presents his work developing a global database of river transport patterns, specifically focusing on the intermittency of water and sediment flux. Results have implications for the sensitivity of rivers and landscapes to climate and geomorphic bounding conditions at a global scale, and fundamentally informs our understanding of how different types of river behave.
