CL Climate: Past, Present & Future

The 2025 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Ramona Schneider for the poster/PICO entitled:

Magnetic fabric of Tajik loess-palaeosols as a palaeowind and process indicator (Schneider, R.; Kulakova, E.; Almqvist, B.; Stevens, T.)

Ramona Schneider is a PhD student at the Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University. Her research focuses on understanding past climate dynamics based on loess deposits in Tajikistan. In her poster presentation at EGU 2025, Ramona demonstrated that anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility can be used to identify a directional signal of past winds in the loess deposits of the Khovaling Loess Plateau. Her findings reveal a surprisingly consistent dust-transporting wind regime over the last 1.2 Million years.
