The 2025 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Sujung Lee for the poster/PICO entitled:

Who is more vulnerable among the most vulnerable? Assessing vulnerability profiles to heat in older adults in Switzerland (Lee, S.; Vicedo-Cabrera A.N.)

Sujung Lee is a PhD student at the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research and the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Bern, Switzerland.

Her research focuses on population vulnerabilities to heat, aiming to assess heat-related health risks at both individual and neighbourhood levels. She combines demographic, socioeconomic, climatic, and urban factors to identify who is most at risk and why.

At EGU25, she presented research on the risk of hospitalisation among older adults during heat events, using emergency hospital admission data and detailed health information from healthcare services across Switzerland. Her findings showed that hospitalisation risks on heat days varied among older adults depending on their health status and other characteristics, underscoring the need for targeted public health measures for subgroups with heightened vulnerability.
