Description

The programme offers an exciting range of subjects, including global soil geography, environmental pollution and remediation technologies. It begins with students taking a wide range of courses over two terms. The courses cover the basics in soil biology and chemistry, pedology and mapping, but broaden to include land remediation, analytical chemistry and modelling. The courses are delivered by a combination of lectures, lab practicals, tutorials and field trips. In addition, there are guest lectures and site visits, as well as a residential field trip that considers land use and rural management in the North East of Scotland. The final three months of the MSc programme are dedicated to carrying out a research project that provides training in technical skills and analysis of results, as well as writing a manuscript for a scientific journal.
