Professor Peter Clift, a sedimentary geologist at Louisiana State University in the USA, is investigating not only how the Himalayas have influenced the Asian monsoon, but how the monsoon has influenced the Himalayas. His findings shed light on the rise and fall of ancient civilisations and have important implications for modern society.

This brochure introduces Peter’s work, offers an insight into careers in sedimentary geology, contains an interview with Peter and includes an activity sheet that challenges students to plan an expedition to investigate past monsoons.
