Apply now: EGU Science-Policy Pairing Scheme
Each year, the EGU, in collaboration with the MEP Group on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development provides an EGU member with the opportunity to visit Brussels and work alongside a Member of the European Parliament for up to a week (with all travel and accommodation expenses covered).
The successful applicant will be paired with MEP Dimitris Tsiodras representing the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats).
Examples of activities that the scientists selected for the scheme may undertake include:
- Receiving an introduction to the work of the European Parliament from the MEP or their assistants;
- Sharing your scientific expertise where relevant;
- Joining various committee meetings, conferences, and policy events that involve European Parliament staff (depending on scheduling and meeting sensitivity).
- Assisting the office in reviewing scientific and technical contributions submitted through Commission public consultations and stakeholder engagement processes, helping to interpret specialised terminology and identify policy-relevant findings that can support informed parliamentary decision-making.
The pairing scheme is will take place from 3-6 of November 2026. To apply, please attach in a single document your CV (max 2 pages) and a cover letter (max 1 page) that specifically answers the following key questions:
- Why do you want to participate in this pairing scheme?
- How would you like to contribute to the MEP and their team’s work?
- What are your experiences communicating your research to a non-academic audience?
The application deadline is midnight on 1 September 2026. Please note that only complete applications in English can be accepted and only EGU members who are EU citizens or based in Europe at the time of application are eligible to apply.
