The geophysics group at the University of Michigan is seeking applicants for a post-doctoral research position in seismology to work on Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS). Research topics of interest include urban seismology, ocean-bottom seismology, volcanology, or environmental seismology. The candidate will have the opportunity to participate in DAS data collection and being involved in several projects for the coming years.
Candidates with a PhD in geophysics or a related area are welcome to apply. Strong knowledge of one or several of the following methods will be valued for this position: array techniques, machine/deep learning, ambient noise correlations, seismic imaging, waveform modeling. Working with DAS requires strong coding skills to scale existing and new algorithms to process very large amounts of seismic data.
