University College Dublin has the largest Earth Sciences school in Ireland. UCD’s research output and its impact in the field of earth science are globally recognized. It hosts iCRAG, the world-leading Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Research Centre in applied geosciences. UCD is also home to the Geohazards Research Group, led by Dr Claire Harnett, which hosts a dynamic group of 8-10 researchers working on volcanic stability in various contexts.

Natural Hazards (NH)
This is a fully-funded postdoc position for 24 months, with opportunities for extension. The work will focus on numerical modelling on volcanic stability in the context of hydrothermal alteration.
The successful candidate with join the ROTTnROCK project, funded by a European Research Council Synergy grant, and work in a multidisciplinary team with branches in UCD (Dublin), GFZ (Potsdam), ITES (Strasbourg), and UU (Uppsala). We welcome applicants with expertise in numerical modelling, particularly in thermal or fluid coupling. This 24-month position, with potential for extension, includes funding for computing, fieldwork, conferences, workshops, and publication fees. The role involves leading the technical development in the modelling work package, using finite
and discrete element methods to integrate fluid and thermal effects into stability models. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and leadership in research while collaborating with the international ROTTnROCK team.
