Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics (ACP)

ACP is a not-for-profit European Geosciences Union (EGU) journal published by Copernicus Publications. Editors work on a voluntary basis. The journal publishes around 900 papers per year covering all of atmospheric chemistry and physics. ACP was founded in 2001 as the first fully open-access journal, pioneering an interactive public discussion of submitted papers.

The journal currently has about 170 editors from nearly 30 countries who are led by an executive committee (Executive Editors Barbara Ervens and Ken Carslaw) and seven senior subject-area coordinators.

Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics (ACP) is seeking editors to strengthen its editorial board in all journal subject areas: aerosols; gases; clouds; precipitation; dynamics; and the role of the aforementioned components in the Earth's climate system, including the biosphere, hydrosphere, and cryosphere.

Editors are responsible for assuring high scientific standards by conducting an efficient and fair manuscript review process, from the appointment of reviewers through to making the final decision on acceptance for publication. Editors, who will be reputable scientists in their field, are expected to exercise the highest levels of scientific integrity and ethics and to support ACP's interactive public peer review process. The selection process will consider the applicant's scientific and community track record; expertise aligned with the journal scope, in particular in one or more of the topics listed above; and evidence of commitment to ACP's public peer review model. We especially encourage applications from underrepresented demographic groups. Priority will be given to candidates who have some prior experience of leadership or other positions of responsibility in the atmospheric science community.
