Postdoctoral research in integrated hydrological modeling of surface and groundwater flows.
Institute of Technological Research of The State of São Paulo - IPT
The IPT, Institute for Technological Research, creates and applies technological solutions for sectors of the economy, governments, and society in support of overcoming challenges. Linked to the Government of the State of São Paulo, it has contributed to national development since 1899. With state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure and highly qualified multidisciplinary teams, it operates in four major areas: research, development & innovation; technological services; metrological services; and technology education.
The IPT - Institute of Technological Research of the State of São Paulo offers a postdoctoral fellowship focusing on integrated modeling between surface water and groundwater for watershed management, using data from shallow geophysical investigations, hydrogeological and hydrological parameters, land use and vegetation cover, applying an integrated simulation program that allows establishing different scenarios for planning actions to address critical situations regarding water security.

The scholarship recipient will be responsible for researching and applying methods that enable the calculation of water balance (surface water/groundwater) and surface hydrological flows and base discharges, with the support of integrated mathematical modeling computer programs that allow for the improvement of estimates of surface water availability on a small/medium basin scale, with controls for aquifer properties in baseflow, to provide forecasts of the impact of vegetation influence and assist in the planning of water resources on a seasonal scale in basins.
Applications should be sent to IPT, under “Application for Post-Doctoral Position-SPRSF” via email: albuzelu@ipt.br
The following documents must be submitted (single PDF file):
1) A cover letter outlining research interests and experience, and relevance to topics of study in hydrogeology, hydrology, hydrogeophysics, and aquifer modeling;
2) Curriculum Vitae;
3) Academic transcripts (Undergraduate and Postgraduate); and
4) Master's dissertation and doctoral thesis.
The application deadline may be extended at any time without prior notice, if necessary.
