Job description

Hochschule Mainz – University of Applied Sciences invites applications for a W2 Professorship in Applied Geodesy, starting in the summer semester 2027. The permanent position is generally divisible.

We are looking for a research-oriented colleague with strong academic and professional experience in at least one of the following areas: satellite geodesy; multi-sensor systems for navigation applications, including mobile mapping; or engineering geodesy.

Responsibilities include teaching theoretical and practical courses in geoinformatics and surveying at Bachelor's and Master's level in German and English, supervising theses, conducting application-oriented research and transferring results into practice, developing research-based teaching concepts, acquiring third-party funding, contributing to degree-programme development and academic self-government, and expanding cooperation with industry, public authorities, research institutions and international partner universities.

Requirements include a degree in geodesy or a related discipline, a relevant doctorate, pedagogical aptitude, relevant publications or conference contributions, and at least five years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years outside higher education. The general appointment requirements under Section 49 of the Higher Education Act of Rhineland-Palatinate apply.
