Seeking a strong data scientist / software engineer to help improve weather modelling for aviation forecast applications.

Must have:

Strong statistics / data science skills

Strong software engineering skills

Competent with AI-assisted coding

Ability to take ownership and work independently in a remote, cross-time-zone team

Resident in the UK

Desirable experience:
Data assimilation, improving observation assimilation into classic NWP weather models
Forecast validation, using conventional and novel data sources to validate forecasts
PBL & shallow cumulus modelling, stratospheric wave forecasting

AI weather modelling, training or fine-tuning existing models
Aviation, private pilot, (para)glider pilot, HAPS experience

Contract or FTE possible, including part time.
