Job description

We are recruiting a Researcher or Researcher (II) to engage in the following research.

[Research Description]
(Immediately upon employment)
The Research and Development Center for Geodetic and Geophysical Monitoring (GGM) conducts research and development on observation technologies and the utilization of related data to better understand subduction zones and submarine volcanoes. In particular, the GGM promotes research and development related to continuous, real-time seafloor crustal deformation monitoring to capture a wide range of deformation phenomena, including slow-slip events (SSEs), within the anticipated source regions of megathrust earthquakes.

In this recruitment, we are seeking a Researcher or Researcher (II) who will engage in advanced technology development and observational research, including seafloor crustal deformation monitoring in the Nankai Trough region, by utilizing JAMSTEC facilities, such as research vessels and underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) etc., as well as seafloor observatory networks operated by other collaborating institutions.

The successful candidate is expected to actively collaborate with researchers, engineers and experts at the Research Institute for Marine Geodynamics (IMG), other institutes within JAMSTEC, and joint research institutions in Japan and abroad to advance research and development.

[Position]
Researcher:
Researcher is expected to further accumulate and develop its own expertise, and to continuously create and publish the results of their main papers and technology development as a dedicated researcher.

Researcher (II):
Researcher (II) is expected independently to conduct research and technology development and to share results through scientific publications and achieve technology innovation.

[Work Place]
Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC)
Yokosuka Headquarters, 2-15 Natsushima-cho, Yokosuka,
Kanagawa, 237-0061, JAPAN
