Taking place on 3 – 8 May, the EGU General Assembly 2026 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world for an hybrid meeting covering all disciplines in the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. EGU aims to provide a welcoming and interactive forum where scientists, especially early career scientists, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.

EGU is pleased to confirm that our General Assembly will once again be available in a combined on-site and virtual format in 2026, following our aims to broaden the accessibility and flexibility of the event. The meeting will take place both on-site in Vienna (Austria) and virtually, as we continue to evolve the General Assembly into a fully hybrid occasion.

With this announcement, EGU and our conference partner, Copernicus Meetings, are opening the call for abstracts for the General Assembly 2026. The deadline for abstract submission is 15 January 2026 at 13:00 CET. Authors will be limited to one abstract as first author (with a few exceptions). All first authors must also be a member of EGU for 2026 to submit an abstract (you can buy a 2026 membership at any time when you submit your abstract). The Abstract Processing Charge (APC) is €50 per abstract submitted.

The Roland Schlich travel support grant will once again be available to on-site attendees (deadline for application is 1 December 2025 13.00 CET), with a registration-fee waiver scheme also being implemented for virtual participants.
