Zsanett Gréta Papp is a climate & energy policy expert, as well as a researcher in Arctic sustainability. She leads the Science for Policy Programme at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) and has previously served as a climate policy analyst at the Institute for Energy Strategy (Energiastratégia Intézet) within the Hungarian Ministry of Energy. With a background in geopolitics and European affairs, Zsanett blends academic, analytical depth with a commitment to making complex issues accessible to wider audiences. Her academic and professional focus lies at the intersection of energy security, Arctic regional governance, and the empowerment of women & youth in the green transition. In 2023, she conducted geopolitical fieldwork in Greenland, gaining firsthand insight into the role of indigenous communities' knowledge in climate action and the evolving socio-political dynamics of the High North. She is also a trained Climate Fresk facilitator, dedicated to climate education, Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) and multistakeholder engagement. As a mentee in the Women in Energy program and a regular speaker at international conferences, Zsanett actively promotes inclusive climate action, science diplomacy, and intergenerational dialogue. During Hungary’s 2024 Presidency of the Council of the European Union, she has contributed to the EU policymaking process and international climate diplomacy at the UN level, representing the EU in high-level discussions, including at COP29. Currently, she serves as an EU Young Energy Ambassador (2025), committed to amplifying the message of a just, secure, and sustainable energy transition across all of Europe, and especially in the CEE region.
