Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Awards / 2017 / Rachel Bazile
More generally, Rachel is interested in understanding the influence and respective roles of different sources of uncertainty. She is also interested in improving predictability at long lead-times, especially in the context of operational hydrological forecasting. Publication resulting from this award Bazile, R., Boucher, M.

“We did not want to have to raise the Abstract Processing Charge, but the additional costs associated with preparing for a hybrid meeting are undeniable,” commented EGU Treasurer Patric Jacobs, “so this small fee increase is necessary to provide our members with the standard of meeting that they have come to expect from EGU .” EGU22 will also have increased registration fees, the details of which will be available in November 2021, due in part to normal inflation, but also because of the higher costs of running a safe and secure conference in a hybrid format, in 2022.

In this study, we provide an overview of the main principles guiding climate simulation by SCMs, as well as a description of most high-profile SCMs. This work offers a clear reference to support the informed use of these important tools.
Home / Awards & medals / Robert Wilhelm Bunsen Medal / 2007 / Hugh St. C. O'Neill
The implications of his work have been felt in the solid earth sciences in answering questions of the stability of phases in the deep earth. Further, his development of new techniques for extracting thermochemical data from experiments have been astonishingly successful.
Home / Awards & medals / Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Awards / 2015 / Sönke Dangendorf
In his work, which was part of his PhD finished in September 2014, he investigated the sources of inter-annual to decadal mean sea level variability in the North Sea. In the awarded poster, he showed that the dynamic mean sea level variability in the North Sea is decoupled from the deep ocean via boundary wave forcing along the continental slope in the Northeast Atlantic.

More information The European Geosciences Union ( EGU ) is Europe’s premier geosciences union, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the Earth, planetary, and space sciences for the benefit of humanity, worldwide. It is a non-profit interdisciplinary learned association of scientists founded in 2002 with headquarters in Munich, Germany.
Home / Awards & medals / Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards / 2026 / Matthias Sinnesael
One of Sinnesael’s most impactful efforts was the co-ordination of a global meeting that brought together researchers to critically evaluate existing methodologies in his field. This led to community-wide recommendations for best practices, and the resulting publication has been influential in shaping how studies of Earth’s past are conducted.
Home / Jobs
Candidates should have completed a PhD degree in Earth Sciences in the broad domain of structural geology and/or tectonics preferentially with post-doctoral, teaching and field experience.
Home / Awards & medals / Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards / 2026 / Anne Klosterhalfen
In her career, Anne Klosterhafen has contributed to key scientific advances by addressing core challenges in ecosystem-atmosphere exchange, particularly the partitioning of net ecosystem exchange into photosynthesis and respiration, and of evapo-transpiration into evaporation and transpiration.
Home / Awards & medals / Stephan Mueller Medal / 2010 / Seth Stein
Seth Stein The 2010 Stephan Mueller Medal is awarded to Seth Stein in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the study of the kinematics and dynamics of plate boundaries and plate interiors based on innovative applications of seismology and space-geodesy, and his role in establishing the first Plate Boundary Observatory.
