Planes stopping in Dubai, Delhi and Niamey, Niger, ingest the most dust of the locations in the study, though seasonal and daily variations can be significant. Airports such as Sydney, Phoenix and Bangkok see less dust than the others, but they do experience occasional large dust storms.

4 April 2013 Karlheinz Töchterle, the Austrian Federal Minister for Science and Research, will attend the EGU Award Ceremony where he will give a presentation on the future of geosciences in Europe. The EGU Award Ceremony is taking place on Wednesday 10 April at 17:30–20:00 in Room R1 of the Austria Center Vienna. Töchterle will address the audience around 18:15. During his visit, Töchterle will meet with the incoming EGU President Günter Blöschl, who is also the Head of the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources Management at the Vienna University of Technology.

Her PhD research focusses on lunar volcanism, in particular, investigating the abundance and role of different volatile species in driving lunar magma ascent and eruption. In her vEGU 2021 talk “Modelling the ascent of picritic lunar magmas”, Marissa presented results from this ongoing research.

Although Western scientists have historically deemed such information unreliable, during the past decade there has been increasing recognition of the advantages of bicultural approaches to scientific research, including demonstration of reliability. Now a review published in the European Geosciences Union’s journal Earth Surface Dynamics offers a roadmap for weaving together Indigenous knowledge with modern research, with a focus on the geosciences.
