The poster presented at EGU 2017 explores one of the ways in which we can explore the seismic signal to maximise sensitivity to density. This is done by comparing different parts of the seismic signal and finding the linear combination of measurements that maximises sensitivity to density while minimising sensitivity to the other parameters.
Home / Outreach / Newsletter / GeoQ #10
It not only had a series of new features associated with The Face of the Earth topic, but it was also the biggest EGU conference to date, with close to 12,500 participants and over 15,000 presentations. In this edition of GeoQ, we reflect on a busy and exciting time in Vienna, highlighting research presented at the conference as well as other special features of the meeting.

Home / Awards & medals / Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards / 2018 / Martin van Driel
He is one of very few seismologists who perfectly master both theory and data, which is reflected in the topical bandwidth of his publications. This breadth combined with his unresting and unselfish effort to advance the seismological community make him a very well-deserved recipient of this award.

This includes EGU’s future President, Helen Glaves and the EGU General Secretary, Giuliana Panieri, who were voted in last October. To take care of this and other unfinished business, EGU has scheduled a virtual Plenary meeting that will take place on 22 October at 12:30 CEST . Although the in-person Plenary in Vienna typically has hundreds of attendees, EGU’s leaders are concerned that not as many of EGU members will take the time out of their busy days to log in to the Zoom meeting.

I work with B. Dubrulle on several projects devoted to give a statistical description of turbulent flows. The poster I presented at EGU 2014 is the result of the research line on extreme events I started during my PhD program at Hamburg University under the supervision of V. Lucarini. In this work, together with S.
