Johannes Quaas recently finished his PhD at Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (CNRS/IPSL) in Paris, France. He is now working at Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg. His work concerns aerosol indirect effects in global climate models and in satellite data.

Her research is focused on the study of the silica fractionation and its reactivity in soils. Different silica fractions (pools) can be found in soils, which dissolves slower or faster according to their structures (crystalline vs. amorphous), which has important implications for the functioning of the silica cycle and its link to the carbon cycle.
