Her research forms part of the Cosmic Sense project, which focusses on advancing the technology of Cosmic Ray Neutron Sensing (CRNS) for an application on ambient water monitoring. With her special interest in the cryosphere, she explores the potential of CRNS for the monitoring of snowpack dynamics at stations from low to high altitude.

As a geophysicist he published fundamental works about the rheology of the Earth, loading effects, tidal friction, the properties of fault zones, and the predictability of earthquakes in a system of self-organized criticality. Long before “interdisciplinarity” and “multi-parameter” observatories became fashionable; he recognized the importance of bringing together people with different perspectives, from natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, economics, and prevention authorities.

Iván Navarrete is pursuing his PhD within the Laboratoire de Géologie at the École normale supérieure - PSL, under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Arthur Olive and Prof. Eric Calais. After earning a degree in Mathematical Civil Engineering from the Universidad de Concepción, Chile, he joined the doctoral network TALENTS to conduct research on the mechanical and thermal evolution of the lithosphere during early continental rifting.

Her and her team concluded that between 2011 and 2021, ocean conditions largely controlled the temporal variability of melt rates and ice shelf buttressing capacity. In contrast, the spatial distribution of melt was controlled by the ice shelf geometry.

.; Ansan, V.; Grott, M.; Krause, C.; Spohn, T.; Widmer-Schnidrig, R.; Smrekar, S. E.; Banerdt, W. B.) Anna Mittelholz is a PhD student at the University of British Columbia in Canada. Her research aims to understand the static crustal and time varying external magnetic field of Mars, and their interactions. For the 2019 EGU general assembly, Anna presented a poster displaying first results of the magnetometer on the InSight Mars lander.
