In his presentation at EGU 2021, he demonstrated a Deep Learning architecture that seamlessly integrates any available past and future meteorological data to generate rainfall-runoff forecasts, and that can produce predictions at multiple timescales within a single model.

Results suggest that pore pressure buildup is the main cause of fault reactivation during injection, while post-injection stress relaxation and redistribution contribute to delayed fault reactivation. Strategies like bleeding-off the well or progressive injection increase seismicity, while a shut-in strategy helps reduce it.

EGU’s 18,000 members span many key scientific areas that can enhance the policymaking process including natural hazards, energy resources, climate change, soil science, and raw-material sourcing. Science is a key component of the policymaking process as it allows decision-makers to consider the evidence and potential consequences of any action or inaction. The growing complexity of societal challenges, and the policies needed to deal with them, also means that more frequent and consistent interactions between scientists and policymakers is needed.
