27 September 2016 The Geosciences Information For Teachers ( GIFT ) workshop, hosted by the EGU and organised with the help of Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology ( INGV ), is taking place on April 24–26 2017 at the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria. The topic of the 2017 edition of GIFT is The Mediterranean.

I then moved to the nascent Robert Hooke Institute in Oxford as an employee of the Institute of Oceanographic Science, until the closure of that institute by NERC and the UK Met Office in 1995. I then moved to my present location. Ive been interested in (almost) all aspects of ocean modelling during my career, from detailed process understanding to the development of big ocean models.

It will be preceded on Sunday May 3 by a guided visit to the splendid Vienna Natural History Museum, one of the most renowned in the world. The topic of the 2020 edition of GIFT is ‘Water in the solar system ‘.
