Arctic Careers: Research, Policy and More
To participate in the webinar "Arctic Careers: Research, Policy and More", you must register in advance using the button below. Please note that this webinar will be recorded and published on the EGU YouTube channel the week after the event.
How can geoscientists engage in the Arctic? The dynamic and interconnected systems are shifting in response to climate change and human activity, producing impacts and uncertain futures that must be reckoned with across sector and communities, including in research, policy, industry and by the local people and cultures who live in there. This webinar will explore how researchers can engage with the Arctic through multiple career paths, including research, policy and public engagement. While deeply associated with scientific disciplines such as the cryosphere and ocean sciences, this webinar will also demonstrate how many different geoscience disciplines are relevant to Arctic topics, such as the space sciences.
Our speakers for this webinar will talk about their personal stories of how they came work in Arctic careers, identify how best scientists should (or should not) approach Arctic topics across multiple sectors, and highlight pathways through which geoscientists can start engaging. The webinar will feature presentations by each speaker, followed by discussion and audience Q&A.
