This webinar will provide an introduction to Galileo and its services for geospatial users, with a particular focus on the High Accuracy Service (HAS) and its applications in geoinformation. The session will begin with an overview of European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA)’s GNSS Service Centre (GSC) followed by an introduction to Galileo and its role as Europe’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). 

The Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS) will then be presented in more detail, covering its main characteristics, access and user benefits. The session will explore applications of HAS and Open Service Navigation Message Authentication (OSNMA) in Geoinformation and Earth sciences, supported by real-world projects and use cases. It will also introduce reports, technical documentation, user-oriented resources and opportunities available through EUSPA and the GSC. The session will conclude by summarising the key points and providing an opportunity for discussion.

How will you benefit?

The presentation will provide the EGU community with a practical understanding of how Galileo services can support high-accuracy positioning, geospatial data collection and a wide range of Earth science and geoinformation applications. In particular, the focus on HAS will help participants understand the opportunities offered by Galileo’s high-accuracy positioning capabilities and how these can be accessed and integrated into professional and scientific workflows. 

The session will also introduce OSNMA and its potential relevance for increasing trust in GNSS information. Real-world projects and use cases will illustrate how Galileo services can be applied beyond traditional navigation, while the introduction to GSC resources, technical documentation and support services will help

Speakers:

Teresa Martínez (European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA)) - Teresa is a GNSS consultant at EUSPA’s GNSS Service Centre (GSC). She holds an MSc in Physics and has experience in GNSS, Earth Observation and Copernicus. Her work focuses on user services and supporting the adoption of Galileo and GNSS across application domains, including geoinformation.

Miguel Rodríguez (European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA)) - Miguel is a GNSS consultant at EUSPA’s GNSS Service Centre (GSC). He holds an MSc in Geography and postgraduate studies in GIS and Regional Planning. He has experience in GNSS, Earth Observation and GIS, with a focus on Galileo uptake and geoscience applications.
