The 2010 Young Scientist Outstanding Poster Paper (YSOPP) Award is awarded to Audrey Ougier-Simonin for the poster/PICO entitled:

Damage and cracking of synthetic and natural glasses subjected to triaxial deformation (Ougier-Simonin, A.; Guéguen, Y.; Fortin, J.; Schubnel, A.)

Audrey Ougier-Simonin is PhD student at Laboratoire de Géologie de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris (France), supervised by Pr. Yves Guéguen and Dr. Jérôme Fortin. Her research interest is mainly focused on experimental rock physics. The EGU 2010 poster aims to investigate thermo-mechanical cracking effects on elastic wave velocities, mechanical strength and permeability under pressure to evaluate damage evolution, brittle failure and transport properties on a synthetic glass (SON68). It also highlights the very different behavior of the glass amorphous structure compared to any rock structure (such as basaltic rock).
